Women's health
Pregnancy is a time of transformation—physically, emotionally, and hormonally.
Many women accept pain and discomfort as a natural part of the process, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Research shows that back pain during pregnancy is often linked to pre-existing, untreated chronic issues that are reactivated under the additional strain of pregnancy.
Chiropractic care plays an important role both during pregnancy and in postpartum recovery. The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) recommends chiropractic check-ups for expectant mothers, as regular care can help relieve discomfort, reduce stress, and support optimal space for fetal development throughout pregnancy.
Since a woman’s body undergoes huge hormonal and structural changes during pregnancy, this creates tensions that can result in various aches and pains.
Increased exertion can, in turn, allow pain to radiate to the legs, cause shoulder pain, or lead to numbness in the hands and feet.
The positive results of chiropractic care are not limited to pregnant women. Post-pregnancy benefits are also considerable. The effectiveness of chiropractic in relieving emotional distress has been recognised for many years. Chiropractic care is important both during pregnancy and for recovery from childbirth.
Postnatal care
During the pregnancy there is an average of 13-18 kilograms of extra weight gain. This dramatic change may add more strain to the spine and/or posture, which affects nerves, muscles and the mobility of joints and create discomfort and often even pain in the lower back, neck area and shoulders.
The positive results of chiropractic treatment are not limited only during the pregnancy. It has considerable benefits after pregnancy. The efficiency of chiropractic care in alleviating emotional stress has been recognized for years. Chiropractic treatment is important during pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
It is never too early or too late to start chiropractic care after the birth of your child. It is especially beneficial after difficult childbirth and/or C-sections.
Perimenopause/ Menopause
This is not a popular topic in social channels. Yet it is a big part of a woman’s life and proper knowledge helps you understand your body and what comes with it.
Normal age for menopause is considered 50-52 years. Perimenopause begins about 6-7 years before that. Menopause is often associated with hot flashes, but that is not the most common symptom.
Women often complain of shoulder girdle pain, sleeplessness, memory issues, depression, and anxiety, not knowing these are perimenopause related symptoms.
There are lot of questions that often are not asked and there are lot of things that could be done for your health benefit to make the hormonal transition smoother and less stressful.
